Title: Interdisciplinary Attributes of Marine Education

Abstract: Contemporary ocean-related issues have exhibited pronounced characteristics of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA). Given China's strategic national positioning and the evolving demands of academic disciplines, the interdisciplinary exploration of marine education has emerged as a significant theoretical and practical proposition of our era. From the perspective of disciplinary institutionalization, it is essential to evaluate the legitimacy and feasibility of establishing marine education as an independent interdisciplinary field. This study finds that existing disciplinary resources, experiences in interdisciplinary discipline construction, and artificial intelligence technologies collectively provide critical support for the development of marine education as an interdisciplinary discipline. Drawing upon current practices in knowledge production, talent cultivation, and social service within the field of marine education, this paper attempts to construct a multi-level, structured interdisciplinary system for marine education, aiming to provide a viable theoretical foundation for disciplinary development and to contribute to the building of China as a maritime power and the advancement of global ocean governance.
